Classic with Style Runways

Part of my final exam for my studies at the University of Classic with Style was to photograph and blog the CWS runways.  As I visited each, I was struck with memories of events over the past month.

At the glamorous Red runway, I recalled the Ms. Sophisticate pageant, the first (and to date only) pageant I have attended on SL.  It was a fabulous event showcasing fashion and talent, and I enjoyed watching each of the events.  The participants were so incredible, and I did not envy the judges who had to choose the best of these lovely ladies.

Next I revisited the Main runway, used for the daily Styling events.  There I recalled my first event, the Ninja theme, when I had only attended one class.  I wanted the experience, and was very surprised to win 2nd place!

I had attended the Danielle fashion show at the Ballroom runway, and enjoyed watching the parade of fashions by Dani Plassitz.  It's a colorful, lively venue!

The Black and White runway I had only seen for graduation formation practice.  This is probably my favorite venue, as I love the art deco look of all black-and-white.  The formation is simple and elegant, all-in-all very classy.

With warmer temperatures every day, the Beach runway seemed to be ready to burst forth with activity.  I have not to date viewed an event on the Beach runway, but it seems like a lot of fun for models and spectators alike.

I had never even heard of the Blue runway prior to being given this assignment.  It appears to be very Hollywood, with lots of gold and red, full of glitz and glamor.

Lastly, I saw the Dome runway.  Of all the formations, this one intrigued me the most, a masterpiece of timing and choreography.  I would very much enjoy seeing an event performed on this venue!  Fast-paced and dramatic, I'm certain it would be very exciting to view it in action.

All the runways are very elegant and classy, well-planned and designed for optimal viewing, a definite asset to the world of Second Life fashion and design.

Final-ly

A month of daily classes at the University of Classic with Style, weekends included.  Countless hours practicing runway formations, studying notes, and doing homework assignments.  Weeks of telling both my RL and SL families, "I can't tonight, I have class."  Then it all seemed like an early April Fool's joke.  All this hard work was supposed to culminate in a final exam, a demonstration of how well I absorbed the mountain of information received in lectures, notes, and runway formation practice.  I waited nearly a week to be notified of the scheduled time for my final exam, but heard nothing.  So I went on a long-overdue vacation with my RL family, and tried to put the whole experience behind me.

Yes, the Lindens had struck again, sending the pertinent communications into cyberspace rather than into my IM box/notecard inventory.  A most patient Janet Brink, Dean of the University, contacted me to schedule my final for Saturday, April 6, at 9 a.m. SLT.  Unfortunately in the intervening weeks I had lost most of the confidence I had in my modeling abilities, and spent the night before the exam practicing, and checking my prim placements over and over, rather than sleeping.  When the scheduled time arrived, I definitely wasn't my best, and I'm sure it showed.  I was confused by the directions given, compounded by being instructed not to ask questions.  I truly felt I stumbled my way through the entire exam, and do not feel I gave the best demonstration of my abilities.

One of the tests was a character test, to revert to "Ruth", the basic Linden avatar form.  At that moment I truly felt like a "noob", stumbling my way through.

Then the second part of the final exam was announced, to blog both my final exam experience, and write a blog of the CWS runways (see above).  Of all the skills I learned throughout the month of lessons, blogging is my weakest point.  I enjoyed learning new skills, had a great time learning the formations and making new friends, but in the end, I don't feel I'll have proven I was indeed a good student.

Placed 2nd in Camo Theme Styling Event

Camo Theme Styling Event Winners
Summitt, Sidney, and Avery

I placed second in the Camouflage theme Styling Event on March 20, my fourth competition.  I was so touched that announcer Janet Brink mentioned my daughter Avagail was in the audience, I nearly burst into tears!  It was an awesome moment, as my daughters bring me much joy.  I am so blessed to have their support and encouragement as I walk this new path.

Congrats and big hugs to Sidney and Summitt, placing first and third respectively.  I'm honored to stand with you!
